Just won on Gun Broker , can’t wait for it to get here. $331 for those who want to know. Didn’t even notice the serial number when I first entered my max bid.
Vince, I have a standard M69-A with the number 101897 in the same place. JWA had never seen one numbered there.
The M47 has a Lyman sight and he does not recall that being an option. Just the 80-A, which I suppose could be changed out for a small Lyman. In any event, you did real well. I paid $800 for my M69-A Match Rifle, but I did get the original sling with it. Big Larry
Vince,
I am thoroughly intrigued by your purchase. It appears to be a 69A Match rifle (not a Target). The serial number is also interesting as I have not been able to track those down yet.
I would love to see more pictures, does the barrel have a rear sight dovetail? Is it chambered for .22 LR or .22 S, L & LR? What are the markings on the underside of the barrel?
Thanks and congrats!

Is anyone else wondering why both 69A’s in this thread have serial numbers that end in 897?

Not until you mentioned it…..
I was more interested in the fact that they are all just after the highest Model 75 serial number and wonder if they are a serial continuation of that model.

More questions than answers here for sure.
That’s an early Lyman 57 on the Match, is it not, with the running deer logo? Would that not indicate it likely predates the late Model 75s by a decade or more?
Weren’t the Matches discontinued several years before the 75s were so the 92897 number predates quite a few Model 75s?

Will answer all your questions and provide pics when I receive rifle, should be end of the week or next. Don’t see an indication of rear dovetail in this picture.
