Winchester 1890 made 1893

I just came by this little rifle. It is in 22 short and made in 1893 I believe. SN is 21498. I was wondering if anyone knew what serial number the type 2’s started. The large disk peep sight is nice. I think the rear are Lyman No. 1 and the front is a Lyman 5B (it has an 1891 patent date. Not too sure what material the filler is for the rear sight. Any ideas on value. I bought it as part of a package of 2 rifles (a 1894 and this guy).

Jim,

The second models started in the mid 15,000 range. Can’t recall the exact number off the top of my head and can’t access my reference material as I’m away from home.

Very nice piece, I hope the bore looks as good as the rest of it!

Jim, the other rifle pictured with your 1890 looks to me to be a 1885 high wall. Not a 1894. I don’t know how much they both were, but you have to great looking rifles there. Nice sights on the 1890 too.
