Back in September of 2017, I started a thread on a Winchester model 62 marked SMOOTHBORE.

It is serial numbered 103592 which Bert said was serialized in April of 1940.

Here is the link to that thread from 2017 that has many, up close pictures and some great discussion:

Did the same thing on Rimfire Central and here is the link to that thread:

That gun will be auctioned at Redding’s Auction Service in Gettysburg PA on Sunday November 6th.

It is Lot #120 and here is the link to Redding’s with descriptions and pictures:

GUN/AMMO/SAFES/RUGER/WINCHESTER/COLT/BROWNING/SAVAGE (estatesale.com)

Here is their description: “Lot #120. Extremely Rare Winchester – Mod. 62 “Smooth Bore” – 22 Long Rifle Cal. Pump Action Rifle – w/23” Round Barrel w/Front Sight & Buckhorn Rear Sight – Blued Finish – w/Straight Grip Wood Stock w/Factory Butt Plate & Ribbed Forearm – What Makes This Gun Rare is the Gun is Marked “Smooth Bore” w/an “A” After it. We Have Never Seen a Model 62 Smooth Bore. Research Shows There Was Some Made, But Seldom Encountered – Mfg. in 1940”

Redding’s conducts a live auction with onsite bidders plus internet bidders.  Redding’s do not charge a buyer’s premium.

Just wanted to let any interested collectors of this Winchester M62 Smoothbore .22.

Redding’s will also be offering at the same auction, a Winchester M67 in .22 Long Rifle Shot.  That is lot #8.  I’ll start another thread on that rifle.

If you have any questions, I would be happy to try and answer them.

I got a note from the nice folks at Redding Auctions, and they told me the Win M62A Smoothbore referenced above sold for $4000.00.

They do not charge a buyer’s fee.

I’m sure it made someone happy.
