M69-A with Baby Redfield. Poor accuracy at 50 yards.
Ruger M77-22 with Leupold 2X7. Poor except with Eley Club at 50 yards. 4 10’s and one 9. Standard 50 yard target.
Ruger 10-22 with cheepo scope. 5 shots at 50 yards with standard ammo. Poor. 5 shots with Eley Club at 50 yards, all touching.
Makes no sense to me, but I am no Distinguished Shot either. Big Larry

Define poor. Any sign of an ammo preference with the 69-A?
Nice enough day for a range trip around here, come to think of it the weather was the best thing about it, lol. Got some good tips from a very good shooter, tho.

You are a Marine with a scoped Winchester, the problem MUST be the target’s fault!

Most surprising results to me, if this is a factory, un-accurized, 10-22.
It has a drop in trigger with a 3lb. pull. It is stock and my Grandson put 5 in the same hole at 50 yards. Benched with Eley Club Pistol Match.
Bad is that all shots were in the black but few grouped.
The M77-22 with Eley Club had 4 touching in the 10 ring and one 9 just out of the group. It has a nice Leupold VariX 1 2X7 variable with 4 plex crosshairs.
My friend JWA, I fired Marksman in 1961 at Boot Camp with a Garand. The last time I qualified was 1963 with an M14 and fired Expert. Our TO weapon was the M1911A1 as I was a tank driver. Oh yeah, we had Grease guns too.
The trigger pull on a M69-A is atrocious at best. Crisp but too heavy for target work. The Traditional Redfield (Baby, if you will), is a very cheap scope not conducive to highly accurate shooting. The 4 plex crosshairs are not as fine as on my Leupold and it is not as powerful. It did fire a smaller group with the Eley though but not to center. Needs more range time. The 69A trigger is adjustable (back off the adjustment screw on the magazine housing) to lighten the pull. If that doesn’t work I will tweak it for you next time I come up. A stock 69A should be about 1.5 moa, some slightly better and some slightly worse.

Scopes without an adjustable objective lens are a poor choice for target shooting. (plenty good for little critter sized targets) You will be plagued with parralex issues. The parralex on non adjustable objectives is usually factory set at 100 yards. If you are closer or further than 100 yards and do not have the exact same cheek weld to the stock from shot to shot your groups will reflect the parralex issue………

I have no trouble at 100 yards with my Lyman Targetspots or STS’s. I think most of my trouble was with the ammo as Eley shot small groups out of all three rifles we were shooting.
Pic is of an unbelievable 5 shot, 50 yd., group shot by my Grandson with his virtually stock 1997 vintage Ruger 10-22, stainless, with the black paddle stock. Fired with Eley Club. Regular ammo was all over the target.
Not trying to make these sporting rifle into target rifles. Just trying to get them centered at 50 yards. I do not hunt, so I am happy to bounce a can at 50 yards.
I have a few M52’s that will shoot dime size groups at 100 yards. With Red Box Eley of course. Pic of rifle capable of dime groups. M52-B BULLGUN.
