Just about blue-less, but “9-1/2 out of a possible 10.”  GB, an endless source of amusement.

But I’m not knocking the PG!  Maybe not quite “super nice,” but it’s well done, & shape of early 52 PGs was often criticized for not being full enough for best handling & trigger control.  In fact, the product John Unertl first advertised when he set up his own shop was an aluminum PG adapter attached with a screw.

What’s so Super nice about it? No blue left on the receiver, been cut for a Lyman sight, pistol grip reshaped, standard bbl., and probably has the COD. I divested myself of all my later standard bbl. M52’s as they are not as accurate as the heavy bbls, and IMHO, do not look as good. Big Larry

Can’t doubt a seller with a 5000 A+ rating.  (By the way, is there any GB seller without an A+ rating?)

Clarence, I don’t have a clue. I do not do auctions for guns. Maybe collectible ammo at times.   Big Larry

Nice enough shooter, only problem is I don’t have room for any more shooters.

It’s a shooter, & one with a history:  who but a serious small-bore competitor would go to the trouble to remake the stock, change the sights, not to mention shoot it enough to wear off all the blue.  My hat’s off to that dedicated rifleman, but how ironic that his “pet” has now fallen into the hands of a know-nothing shyster who’d say  “9-1/2 out of a possible 10.”   In any other business do you find so many fools & crooks as in gun-dealing?

Seems to me that he was referring to the bore…….No skin in the game and I’m not defending the seller, but we need to be very careful before throwing someone into the “know-nothing shyster” bucket. Here is his complete statement….note the comma:

“Bore is in excellent condition, I would rate it a 9 1/2 out of a possible 10.”

So would you also put it in the “super nice” category, this virtually blue-less gun with a refinished stock?  All the seller had to say was “it is what it is.”  As for his know-nothingness, is he even aware of all the mods done to the gun?  And with 5000 previous sales on GB alone, he’s no neophyte.

The world is full of shooter guns, and that drives up the values on the good stuff. I am a collector and have some real nice M52’s. They were expensive, but I could not see throwing my $$$ away on a modified rifle that would be a hard sell should I ever sell some. I have, and got top $$$ because they were pristine. I still have 7 left as I no longer collect them, but do not want to get rid of them as I am attached to these few.

As to bores, I have never seen a bad bore on a M52. These rifles were top dollar in their day, and folks took better care of them. They also modified them to their own taste, and that’s why we see so little of pristine collectible older M52’s.   Big Larry Ex M52 collector.

Even though it’s obviously futile to converse with you, I’ll say that as a collector I don’t think the gun in question is “super nice” by my definition. However, someone out there in GB land may think it’s nice enough to own as a shooter grade gun.

I still do not think there is reason, based on the ad in question, to call the seller derogatory names… especially since his ad includes plenty of fairly decent photographs that effectively say “it is what it is” . Enough said……..
