Finally after acquiring the latest piece(model 57) I’m able to post a photo of my Winchester 22 collection. I was also waiting on ammo for the display case.
Before you say it Clarence lol, yes a 69 match would be a welcome addition, and 52c sporter but, not on my current budget. Would be great to see photo’s of others 22 collection.

I think I might prefer a 57 or 60A to the 69A Match, because not only are both scarcer, they have the one crucial component missing on all 69s that would have made them perfect: a barrel band! Without either a barrel band or a schnobble fore-end, the gun doesn’t look quite right to me, but I admit to having arcane tastes.
But don’t loose sleep over a 52 Sporter–they were overpriced when new, & now are grotesquely overpriced.
The M69-A Target and Match are very hard to find. Especially pre war. You need a JTSS which are also very hard to find. A M56 is another you need for a proper 22 collection.
I completed my Winchester collection last year with a M1902 in 22 LR. I have at least one of every model they made pre 64. The guy with the super 22 collection is our friend JWA. Hard to outdo him.
At this time I do not have a M52C Sporter, but years ago I had one. I do have several M52’s.
As Clarence said, the M60-A target rifle is scarce. I had two. Both near mint.
You have a great looking display there. I too collect period ammo. Big Larry
I am sure that any Matches found that belonged to a State Guard would probably be beaters.
Still, Match and Target M69-A’s are very hard to find.
I looked for quite a while before I found mine. As luck would have it, both came with original slings and magazines, usually missing.
Both mine have the 22 LR only bbls. and 6 grooves. Never fired them so I cannot speak for accuracy. Most M69A’s are quite accurate. Big LarryM60-A with original Kerr sling

Well, not exactly all beaters. I was able to obtain a few in-the-box 69A Match rifles from the Connecticut State Guard that had not been shot much.
Definitely more than “20” 69A Match rifles made as I have more than that in my meager collection. 😉

Hi Rick,
Great looking display! Big Larry and Clarence are correct though, there are probably a few more key pieces you can add to enhance that already outstanding display.

Wow that’s impressive JWA. The search for a 60A and a 69 match is a little tougher up here in Canada but something to chase and keep the collecting enzymes alive & flowing.

They are up there for sure, just keep your eyes open. Many times (in fact most of the time) the 69A Match is mislabeled as simply a 69A or more frequently a 69A Target since many sellers do not know the distinction between those variants. There are not enough of the Winchester 69 books up in Canada yet to help. 😉

Meager??? Well I’ll
be cornswaggeld. Your Bud, Big Larry
Well, meager compared to all the known sub-variations of Winchester .22’s of which there are more than 1000. I certainly don’t have them all yet.

Yes, but is it really wise to enlighten them? If you’re a buyer, that is.
If someone asks, I happily tell, otherwise what they sell and how they advertise is their business. I used to try to be helpful but as most of you know, a large percentage of the time Gunbroker sellers don’t want to know the actual details, especially if it is contradictive to their posted description.
I have gotten some nasty responses from sellers in the past so I don’t bother anymore. My favorite was a seller that had a 69A Match and had it advertised as a “Rare Special Order 69A with Factory Lyman Sights and Sling Swivels”. I emailed him and told him he had a very nice and desirable catalog model G6941R 69A Match rifle although it wasn’t special order as it was offered in the Winchester catalogs from 1941-1952. He told me to go “F” myself, it had to be special order because he had never seen one and I didn’t know what I was talking about.
No good deed goes unpunished…..

Hard to find any at 30,000′. Looking forward to seeing you. Bruno’s has been slow lately. Tom and I had a pizza last week. Big Larry
I was at 32,000 last night and dodging storms. Home next week if you and Tom are available? Be about a 6 hour round trip (plus Bruno’s) but it will be worth it. I need to stretch the legs on my Dodge Cummins anyway, it has only been making short hops to the airport the last few months and that 6.7L diesel is straining at the leash.

Make sure to run it all the way up to the rev limiter (3,200 rpm)
