The front sight looks like a Lyman 3 or 28. The 3 has a 1/16 bead, the 28 a 3/32 bead. Both are listed for the 63 in the 1951 Lyman catalog for the 63, with a width of 17/32.

Oops! I guess I should have measured that when I had the front sight out! It is indeed a 3/8″ dovetail. The longer sight body made me believe otherwise.

We’re still waiting to hear from the OP, curious to see what kind of “odd” sight may be on his rifle.

Mike, my M63 is a late 1957 with the scarce grooved receiver. it has a 75-C front site. Sorry, no pics of rifle.Big Larry
