Good morning,
This WAS a standard rifle previously. The wood is like no Model 61 i have ever seen. The 88 in the label on the box is different and the finish is TOO perfect with no alteration of the bluing at the proof stamps. https://www.gunsinternational.com/guns-for-sale-online/rifles/winchester-rifles-model-61/winchester-model-61-short-only.cfm?gun_id=101044491

Wow. This rifle’s refinishing and modification shoots down one of my arguments for collecting .22’s. From what I can see it looks like very good work and if so the work wasn’t cheap. I think (hope) .22’s are generally safe from this level of fakery but here’s an exception.
I can’t get the link to work, what are they asking for this rifle?

Quite honestly they lost me at the “box”. These days an “original box” means it’s fake or I can’t afford it. Either way, I’m out.

Good job Michael, I see the ad has been pulled already…..Erin
Might just be the link you posted here or maybe my pc had a hic-up. The link you posted on RFC worked and the ad was still there……
I edited the link so it works now.

You sure got that right. Hopefully these aren’t fakes for that amount of cash. Glad I’m no box collector…
