Hello to all,
I have this rifle with SN 4146 previously listed in my survey as a standard rifle with a round Short, Long, & long Rifle chamber! It is found in a large group of standard rifles covering a range of 400 serial numbers with no OB rifles in that group. The early LR and WRF rifles were made in distinct batches. Now it shows up with an octagon barrel Long Rifle only barrel???!!! https://www.proxibid.com/aspr/Very-Scarce-Early-Production-Pre-War-Winchester-Model-61-Slide-Action-22LR-Rifle-in-with-Desirable/31629336/LotDetail.asp?lid=31629336

Let me guess…you contacted RIA with your info, and they blew you off. Sounds about right for them and most auction houses that I have tried to deal with. It’s all about money and greed fueled by the inexperienced buyers. I used to live 30 miles from RIA, and would go over to look at the offerings before the auctions. I finally had to quit going. It was to frustrating and a bit maddening. Eagle
