The Model 1890 or the later Model 90 were “cartridge specific”. This means they would only feed and fire the designated cartridge marked on the barrel. It was chambered for 22 SHORT, 22 LONG, 22 LONG RIFLE AND 22 W.R.F. (22 WINCHESTER RIM FIRE) the predecessor to the Winchester 22 Magnum. Hope this helps. RDB
