I  purchased a  model  75  yesterday  and I have looked  at the receiver    under the barrel   on the stock  and everywhere I can.  to find a serial number so I can date  the gun.    Id like to get the correct rear  sight and front sight for it.  I took the stock off and I can not for the life of me find a serial number.      There is a  three digit number  etched onto the bolt. I looked under the barrel to see what year it was made . NO marks there either.  The bolt  is  not a straight   one but rather has a sweep to it.  Wonder what year they started doing  that?    There are no  GOvt  marks on it  .  Other   75s Ive viewed on line have a  serial  number   on the receiver  but one does not exist for this gun and it does not appear to be reblued or the  serial #s  removed.

Hello Marcus,

We really need to see several clear pictures of the rifle before attempting to answer your question(s).

75s were made in two basic variations, Sporting, with a 24″ brl., & Target, with a 28″, & no rear-sight dovetail.   Which is it?

Perhaps it is a Model 75 barrel in a 69Aa receiver? The swept bolt for the 69A was introduced in 1948 so I expect the 75 was done at the same time.

Does the receiver have “Winchester” rollmarked into it on the left side? That was standard for the 75 but most 69As did not have that.
