Has anyone ever experienced this? I have put thousands of rounds through my 69A, and the last few trips this has seemed to become a gremlin. It’s an aftermarket magazine, but before this it always fed fine. I don’t remember if I took it apart and put the follower or spring in backwards, I suppose that’s always a possibility.

I think I solved my own problem. It just emptied the mag out and shot the cartridges everywhere when I went to load it. One of the feed lips was bent slightly outward. Some leatherman gunsmithing set that back to where it should be, and the last 5 mags have fed fine.

For my future idiocy, the long part of the follower goes towards the front of the magazine, and the spring coil end winds up at the rear of the magazine, right? I looked through your book a month or two ago and didn’t find an exploded view.

That is exactly correct, it is illustrated on page 286 (albeit on a 10 round magazine).  Ignore the patent drawing on page 288 as the illustrator drew the follower backwards on that particular patent drawing.
