I have a model 67 that has what appears to be two factory dovetails for the rear sight one on the barrel and one on the reciever. The rifle is in excellent condition and does not appear to have been rebarreled. I found pictures on the internet of several rifles like it with a sight on the barrel and a plug the the dovetail on the receiver. Did Winchester ever send anything like this out from the factory.
thanks

Charles,
I assume you have a 69 since the 67 does not have a separate receiver.
3Dub is correct, during the parts cleanup for the G6901R and G6902R in 1939-1942 Winchester mated G6902R barrels with dovetail for the 32C with G6901R receivers with dovetail for the 96B. A blank was installed in whichever dovetail was not needed. I have seen quite a few like that.
There is a book available on the subject of the Model 69 that covers that topic and illustrates examples of parts cleanup rifles. It is found at RimfirePublications.com or in the “Store” then “Books” tab above.
