Hello Bert

I just received my Red book and was looking at page 292 at the model 67 smoothbore 22 shot.  I own a 67 miniature target bore and was looking for a value on it.  I do know there are two different smoothbores in the model 67 one is the counter bore for shot only with shotgun sights and the other is one with the standard rimfire sights which is not counter bored.  Which one of these guns are you referring to in the Red Book.IMG_2562.jpgImage Enlarger

Thanks Mike

Good question.  The photo in the Red Book shows a G6716R “Miniature Target Bore” (like yours).  Here is my pre-war G6720R “Smooth Bore” for comparison –

From my personal observation, the G6716R Miniature Target Bore tends to bring quite a bit more money than the G6720R “Smooth Bore”.  I suspect that while the photo in the Red Book illustrates a G6716R, the prices seem to be more reflective of the G6720R (but that is just a guess).

I am sure Bert will be along shortly to provide clarification.

Actually, I cannot provide any additional clarification. My friend Larry Shennum provided the description and photos, and the pricing information for most of the .22 caliber models. When the next iteration of the book is written, I will be consulting with Jeff (JWA) and using his expertise to refine the listings for the .22 rim fire rifle models.

Well, I am flattered and scared ***less at the same time.  Dr. Shennum did a great job with the .22 section of the Red Book and while I may be able to polish up a few details, I ain’t no PhD, just a simple Engineer.

Now, to answer the original question, in my humble opinion, the prices in the Red Book are spot-on for a G6720R “Smooth Bore” 67, both in the pre-1944 and post 1943 sections.  The current values for the G6716R currently seem to be significantly higher.  Assuming the rest of your rifle looks as nice as the single photo, and also assuming there have been no after-sale modifications, I would estimate your Miniature Target Bore rifle to be valued in the neighborhood of $1200-$1600.  That is only my opinion based on your sole photo however, additional photos or details may degrade or improve that estimate significantly.

Hope that answers your inquiry.

Bert  Thank you for the clarification  JWA here are some more pics of my rifle. As near as I can tell it is 100% original. There is a little bump in the wood as you can see from the pic.  IMG_2564.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2572.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2573.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2574.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2575.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2576.jpgImage EnlargerIMG_2577.jpgImage Enlarger

You have a nice looking rifle. I see very few of them for sale and JWA is right on in price. In the right place with the right bidders it would bring more. Somebody got a great deal on Guns International a while back when the seller had no idea what they had and listed it at $599 as a garden gun. You have a very hard to find model 67.

Have a great day
