I recently bought a Winchester 63 online. I had been looking for a while for a nice one that was kind of affordable. This one looked good and the conversations with the seller were encouraging. When it arrived, I was very pleased. This is a 1949 model and looks almost new. Bright and shiny bore. When I was playing around with it on the bench at home it seemed to work great (with no ammo). But, then it warmed up a bit and I went to the range. I put two rounds in the tube, and pushed the button in front. The first round jammed. with some fooling around I got the round in the barrel and fired it. Extracted well, but the next round jammed as well. I got that one in the chamber, and it wouldn’t fire. Ejected it, and it had a very tiny dent in the rim. Tried the whole thing again, and still wouldn’t feed, and now it wouldn’t even cock. I took it home and broke it down and everything looks great. Like new. I can cock the hammer with my thumb, and the hammer cocks, the trigger works and the hammer falls. But reassembled it won’t cock. So…I guess what I am looking for is someone who can say “oh yeah, that’s the ????, and all you have to do is ????” or if not that, the name and contact info of a Winchester 63 wizard gunsmith. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. By the way, because of the weather here, it was quite a while between the time it came and when I tried to shoot it, so it is way too late to send it back. Besides, I like it, and want it to work.
