I came across a model 61 24″ barrel marked S,L or LR the tag states 1936. It is well used with a little pitting on the receiver the wood is good, and it has a checkered metal buttplate . The barrel is shiny with no rust. The shop is asking 365.00 for it. This price sounds fair to low I would like some opinions before I purchase it.

Hello Richard,
The serial number should be in the 16150 to 21500 range to be a 1936 rifle. The muzzle should be cut perfectly flat and the rifle will most likely have a small, 11 grooved, slide handle. I have found a few with the longer 17 groove handles but not common at all. $365 is a very good price based on your description. If you can get some photos and the full SN I will be happy to take a look and advise further. [email protected]
