I would look at it this way. Let’s assume that the rifle in Madis is real. Probably a safe bet on that. That gun was produced in mid 1961. The GB rifle is SN 332050 which is some 12,000 rifles later. That seems like a LONG time to still be experimenting on something!!
In addition, SN 319822 was sold at RIA in May 2017 Lot #3149. It may have been the Madis rifle since the first three digits are the same. https://www.rockislandauction.com/catalog/70/1/?lot=3149
