Does this rifle actually have any justification to the asking price or is it more of a reflection of the sellers user name on GB?

Obviously a P T Barnum fan. Or proof of his famous saying. Hard to say but with a handle like that I’ll bet the seller is a character, might be fun to meet.

Heavily engraved???? The muzzle end looks like it was a “practice piece” for the local high school woodworking/engraving shop. Truly a “costly error” if he is into that piece even close to that amount.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who felt that way. Couldn’t see the other engraving well but was very much underwhelmed by the clear pics of the muzzle end.

Did you ever wonder who might be buying those do-it-yourself electric engraving tools once sold in the Rifleman? This gun proves at least one of them was not only sold but used (or rather abused).
Skeptical also that Sedgley was responsible for that ugly rib.
It appears there may have been 2 “engravers” who worked on that one. The additional work on the front ramp doesn’t quite match up with the receiver. Anyway, Thanks for confirming my suspicions!
I did pick up a decent condition 52B a couple months back. It is fitted out with a Unertyl 12X with an extra 16X eyepiece and Vaver front and rear Iron sights. No collector quality, just a shooter as the butt stock has been shortened and fitted with an adjustable aluminum plate. (not the best of installations but I believe I can clean it up some). Checkering has been added to the forearm, aftermarket of course but tastefully done. I did send the scope off and had the reticle changed to a target dot. I have not gotten around to any serious accuracy shooting yet. Just a basic sight in and a few test groups with a handful of different types of NOT target ammo. It looks to be a very good shooter. I had a few flyers with the cheap ammo, which is to be expected. I don’t expect to be competing in any matches, Just removing starlings and Grackles off the wife’s bird feeders……….(without hitting the feeders)
