i just picked up a 47 at a gunshow. It won’t fire. It drops the firing pin and puts a slight dent in a snap cap when the trigger is pulled.
I have some parts on order, including firing pin springs but no firing pin. The existing pin looks good and does protrude above the bolt face. The chamber mouth is undamaged.
Ive sprayed the bolt down with CLP. Very little crud was flushed out of the bolt. The trigger pull is crisp but heavy.
What concerns me is when I close the bolt, there is a distinct click and the bolt body jumps slightly. It’s like the firing pin is released and is traveling forward slightly and is caught by the sear as the bolt closes. Is that normal for a 47? My 75 doesn’t do that.
If the pin is losing travel distance before it’s released to fire, I can’t imagine that’s helping the ignition issue.
Thanks in advance!
Tim
In case anyone is/was interested, it turns out the firing pin was the culprit. Somewhere along the line, someone butchered the firing pin sear engagement surface something awful.
Fortunately I was able to procure a new firing pin! All is well with the little 47 now.
Thanks for the help!

Great news. I know this has been a problem for you for some time. I really like mine. I have three but have only shot one. Very accurate rifle quite similar to the famous M69-A. Big Larry
