Good evening folks, we’re dodging tornadoes here in S. Central KY but I think it’s about over.

I just got a new to me M75 just for a shooter. It has two add’l tapped holes a couple inches from the receiver. I want to put a modern scope on it so I’m hoping someone can suggest a rail that could fit.

EGW makes rails to replace scope blocks, with the standard hole spacing for those blocks, but if pre-drilled holes don’t match up, it’s easy to drill your own.  I have one on a 52, & it works very well.  You’ll have to position scope so bolt handle doesn’t strike it.  That isn’t a problem using external mount scopes, which hold scope high enough to clear bolt.

Thanks for the info. I thought about buying a raw piece of rail and modifying it, I have extra tapped holes 3.75″ in front of the two holes just forward of the receiver so it would be easy enough to do, I just wasn’t sure how to get the proper fit to the barrel diameter. However, my shop is a disaster after recently emptying out my previous shop, so I just ordered the negative 20 MOA EGW rail. I just want to squeeze in the odd couple of hours at the range while I’m sorting out way more tools than anyone needs…

Hopefully the 20 MOA rail works out.  A flat rail might have been better.  Long range shooters use 10 or 20 MOA rails for shooting long range.  They give you a lot more elevation if your scope can handle it.

For me, most confusing part about ordering a rail was the best MOA, so I told them what I was mounting it on & let EGW pick it for me.  For the purpose of raising the scope high enough to clear the bolt handle, I’d think a higher rail was preferable.  Less interference, also, with a 3/4″ tube scope.

I ordered NEG 20 MOA based on what the EGW website said, the barrel is tapered so the neg 20 compensates for the taper allegedly. ETA: i ordered the rail from Amazon so if I need a flat rail I’ll return this one.
