It is probably the six hundredth and fifty first one serial numbered in the first month of production. Laugh

Hi all,

Speaking of low serial numbers of the model 62, I have a very nice condition one serial number 74.  This was most likely made on the first day. Just a bit of trivia. Trace.

A question, Did the 62’s start with serial # 1 or were the very first ones made using the left over 1890 receivers in the 800,000 serial range?

Erin

The Model 62 began with serial number 1.  Winchester was still manufacturing Model 90/06 receivers well after the Model 62 was introduced.  The Model 62s in the Model 90 serial number range used 1940s production receiver frames.
