A question, Did the 62’s start with serial # 1 or were the very first ones made using the left over 1890 receivers in the 800,000 serial range?Erin
The Model 62 began with serial number 1. Winchester was still manufacturing Model 90/06 receivers well after the Model 62 was introduced. The Model 62s in the Model 90 serial number range used 1940s production receiver frames.
