I’m in a discussion with a person that believes they have a 62 Gallery. I’m no expert on 62s…We’ve discussed the triangular loading port…he says he has it, we’ve discussed .22 short only…he says his is stamped w/ .22 Short….his has no roll stamped ‘Winchester’ on the receiver…is that optional or required for Gallery? His also has the shorter wood forearm that was on standard 62 models, where the Gallery examples I’ve seen have a longer forearm…His Red Book dates to 1935 YOM…thoughts?

Searching the forum for more info on ‘Gallery’, it appears that the roll stamped receiver is optional, not conditional…

That doesn’t look anything like my Model 62. Looks like a Model 1873 to me.

That’d be correct, Ruddy…It is indeed a 73…that’s my signature pic, (or whatever it’s called in forum lingo). I didn’t post a pic of a M62. I would like to make the pic smaller but haven’t yet cracked the code for pulling that off….

Here is a shot of my Gallery Model 62A, it is in .22 short, has the triangular loading port and the roll mark on the receiver
According to Schwing the roll mark was a special order mostly seen on Gallery rifles but being special order is not seen on all of them
