I am looking at a Model 90 with the serial number 680xxx and, as best I can tell, it was manufactured 1925-1926. I’d appreciate any more accurate information and any suggestions on things to look for/at before I take the plunge. Thank you

Model 90 serial numbers 680000 – 680999 were all manufactured in late June through early November 1922.  The complete serial number will narrow it down to the exact date.  You failed to mention which of the four specific .22 rim fire cartridges that it is chambered for… that will make a difference in how desirable  (collectable) that it is.

September 28th, 1922.  The 22 Long Rifle is the most desirable of the four different rim fire cartridge chamberings.  The graded condition of the rifle will dictate what its potential value is.  Pictures are needed to evaluate it.

I bought the model 90…very excited about it. Where can I get a set of takedown instructions? I was directed to Ned Schwings Winchester Slide Action Rifles, but used copies cost lots of money. I guess I will do it if I have to, but am curious is anyone has other ideas. Thank you

Congrats on your new rifle.

Not printed instructions but this is a good video that I used recently for disassembly/reassembly of the similar Model 62A. You’ll need/want proper tools.

Welcome aboard!

My reference library is probably the best money I’ve spent as a collector, I like Schwing’s work. Maybe a reasonably priced copy will come along if you keep an eye out.

Congrats on the 90, hopefully all you’ll need to do is take it down to clean it.

Last year in Greeley I found the 2 volume set for $200.  I needed the second one and another WACA member needed the first one.  Keep looking.

I agree with Mike.  Just take it down and do the cleaning.  No need to tear into it. When I was collecting these I had to take one apart and there is a trick to get the bolt out but other than that everything else is easy.  I did not have a clue but luckily figured it out.  The videos really help.
