A little while back I purchased a Model 57 serial number 18309. Last number listed in the Red Book is 18281 but if the 56 and 57 were numbered in the same range the last number should be somewhat higher. Madis’ explanation of the production numbers and dates only roughly agree with his tables so they weren’t helpful. Since Red Book serial numbers are based on Bert’s PRB research I’m wondering if the 56 and 57 were not numbered in the same range after all.

I’m sorry if this has been explained before, sure has me confuzzled.

The numbers go much higher; check out JWA’s survey thread for more specifics:

Mike,

The tables in Chapter 8 for the Model 56 & 57 are not accurate, and Cody does not have any of the PR records for either model. As stated in the Red Book, only the numbers in bold italics were derived from the PR records. Read the information on page 277. Thus far, the highest known Model 57 bears serial number 29854.

Yeah, what they said.

I did not have yours in the survey, you have been hiding stuff……

Thanks for the pictures.
