Nice looking 1890 Long Rifle caliber on GB at the below link. Also interesting is the high bidder. he has bought off GB since 2014 and the only seller he has bought from is Gunsrc. Very nice 1890 with thinning blue.

? That bidder would just love going head to head with someone on this rifle!!!!
Don’t think the bidder would, but for sure the seller would love to see that happen! I think you be de man. Might have to pay a few (or several) hundred more than you’d like, but think of the satisfaction in making the other guy cry “uncle”!

he’d probably make me cry “uncle”!
Someone was a bit aggressive with cleaning the flaked spot and scratched the bluing. A somewhat similar problem in the front of the trigger guard. Personally, I would have left a shade of brown in these two areas like they did on the top of the bolt and buttplate. I do wonder, though, what they used to clean the patina off of the rest of the metal. Was it a paste of some sort that is rubbed on and off quickly? Your thoughts, please.

Added: I found a thread from last year where we discussed Flitz…that was the name of the paste I was trying to remember. I wonder if they used it to clean the metal.
