OfflineI recently found and bought a 9422 made in I think 1972 , serial number F178XX. After a good cleaning, it was in better condition than it looked at first glance. Does being a first year manufacture make the rifle a little more valuable, all things being equal..?
I have seen other guns advertised as “first year” pieces on several occasions and have wondered if that had much to do with pricing, or should it have. This particular rifle was priced reasonably for a 9422 in our area and by looking at completed online auctions.

OfflineWith a high production model (like the 9422), “first-year” has little to no effect on the value (though many gun dealers will try to convince you otherwise). Now, if the serial number was inside the first 100 rifles made, then Yes, there would be a moderate value premium.
