I second these ideas….tags, paste, and staples.
May need a pneumatic air nailer for some of these folks.

Why? they will just bend the nails!
Good point. Framing nail gun sounds like a gun going off (pretty much IS) so we probably won’t be able to use it. We’ve got awhile to figure this out but all kidding aside I think it’s a great idea. And maybe I’ll remember to write it on both sides. I’m terrible with names and need all the help I can get!

It is easy for Tim and I… we simply just look at the name tag on our Skivvies to figure what name we answer to today
Still got your G.I. issue laundry stamp I see! lmao
In the U.S. Navy we called it a “stencil”, and Yes, we had to stencil all of our skivvies & socks !

Bert, I have Dad’s stencil from WWII!! Would work for me still as last name is the same but service number is way different! Prefer Fruit for now anyway!
Somewhere buried away in my “stuff” boxes, I still have the stencil I was issued in Bootcamp (San Diego, January 1979). It is made out of brass. With it are a stencil pens with black ink and white ink (though both are more than likely dried up hard by now). It was day-2 in bootcamp that we were issued all of our “new” uniforms and clothing and immediately had a “stenciling party”. Today, they simply issue sew on name patches for everything except the undergarments (skivvies, socks, and t-shirts).
We have a problem… I too am “Fruit” today!

Well in my day at PI they gave us 2 rubber stamps and black and white indelible ink to place our names on everything, surely so as to not forget what our real names were when we got out of there. Still have them to this day,,,,,, somewhere. Sewn on name tags didn’t come out until mid 90’s. Up til then we just called one another DEVIL DOG or Leatherneck!!!!
Never thought about this before. In the Army our uniforms had a tag attached with our info on it. But….I can’t remember tags on our socks or skivvies? I have most of my stuff but it is packed away up in the loft where it is over 90 degrees right now. My wife must have thrown some of it out but I still have a lot left.
Chuck, In my days, handkerchiefs, socks, underwear were big safety pinned together in a laundry bag and the whole works went in the field laundry. The bag was labeled and I think it all went in together. I seemed to always get mine back. Prior to my time, supposedly they did stamp the names in underwear. Socks? No idea. Tim

Well, I tried. I got a haircut before heading north. The mountain outside Cody that generally has snow hasn’t had snow last couple of years.
Maybe old Winchesters need a warning label; “Product is known to cause loss of pigmentation in scalp and facial hair.”
