I’m a new Winchester owner in the Fort Worth, TX area. I picked up a 9422M XTR Classic yesterday and I think I want to mount a scope. I’ve started researching my options and it appears that Weaver makes a scope base adapter called a tip-off base that will give me a lot more options in rings, etc. and I’m wondering if anyone has used them, what the difference is between the different bases and any advice/info that can be offered on mounting a scope to a 9422. Here’s a pic of my first Winchester.

Similar Weaver bases have been popular since the ’50s.  Perhaps not the most elegant, but all Weaver products are a good value, & their longevity speaks for itself.  What you don’t need on this rifle is one of those monstrous huge variables that crowd the market.  I’d look on ebay for an old steel-tube Weaver in 4X, or 6X at the most.

Just use Weaver 3/8 groove scope rings in the appropriate size for your scope. Or Weaver T-22 3/8” Conversion Mounting-Base Pair, and the whole world or rings.

Thanks, Clarence, I already have two scopes that will work great for rimfire, I just needed to understand my options for bases/mounts. I’ve never had a rifle with a 3/8″ grooved receiver, so it’s a little different and I want to explore all of my options and get feedback from those with experience, like you. I appreciate the advice.
