Hello again guys,
Another entrant into the faked guns category which is being presented as “factory original” withe “original box” to make it so much more valuable??? And an asking price of $11,500!! The only problem is that when this rifle was sold at the Cordier Auction house during December 2016 as Lot 256 the engraving had not been finished yet and the box must have been waiting for the glue to dry!! Here is the current description From Winchester Way in Utah:

That’s unfortunate. Someone ruined a nice rifle and some very nice wood putting this fake together. Checkering was laid out wrong, no chance it could have come from Winchester that way. I suspect it’s no accident the pics of the engraving are poor quality.

The MOST unfortunate part is that the rifle has supposedly sold for the crazy price of $11,500 for a faked rifle and fake box!!!

Was wondering what it sold for; that’s a bit past “unfortunate” IMHO. I think we’re well into “fraud” territory here.

Have serious doubts that whoever had this much spare change to blow earned their dough the hard way, but nevertheless, such a fraud deserves exposure. If there was any way to learn the identity of the buyer, he should be provided with the facts. If the dealer was not in on the scam, informing him might be a way to go about it.
It’s Baaaack!! And for your foolish buying pleasure it is more expensive this time.
After supposedly being sold shortly after the rifle hit the website it is now re-listed as “NEW” and at an asking price of a thousand dollars MORE! For the same faked rifle. AND… It is being offered simultaneously on both Guns International and Gunbroker. Wouldn’t that make it kind of hard to bid??? Just so you recognize how much of an expert these guys are they claim that the magnum Model 61’s were introduced in 1959. Wrong! It was 1960. Then they were only offered for 2 years??? Let’s see. 1960, 1961, 1962 and 1963. Count them. That makes 1, 2, 3, 4 years by my fingers.

Michael,Did you send this guy an email with your findings? It would be interesting to see how he responds.

Al,
I have “dealt” with them on one occasion in the past. They had a unique 1892 that they did not think was original but I checked Cody and it was so jumped on it with a phone call, email, and sent a check. After not hearing back from them for a few days I called and got some lame A** excuse about them missing my call and somebody else wanting it but then he backed out and they re-listed it at $1500 more!! My guess is that they found out it was original and then wanted more money. I was done with them at that point.

You could send them a Email telling them it was a fake and then if they continued to list it at that price even after they knew it was fake, then for sure you’d know how dishonest Winchester Way was. I bought my Model 61 off them, and they did negotiate the with me on the price some, but i still did pay a high price for it. Not complaining though love my 61.
