On another forum I frequent a guy posted pictures of a 1946 M62 with an odd brass forend. My first thought was just that grandpa broke the wood one and was handy with brass work, until someone suggested that this was done to increase difficulty in carnival galleries.
Maybe it’s a nonstarter, but just curious if anyone has seen this before or has any thoughts. Maybe this was a (relatively) common practice?

Definitely a one-off. Maybe a metal worker replacement of a broken forearm, or just someone required a larger, adult size forearm to improve grip. This one would certainly never break. Looks terrible IMHO.
