It appears I got what I wanted after all, a nice “shooter”. Big Larry’s friend Mr Sailor looked at the pics I sent him and confirmed a few things I was wondering about. The stock of this rifle has apparently been modified with the addition of black and white spacers and a longer front sling attaching rail. There are a few other issues as well but I won’t be able to address them for awhile.

OK, tomorrow I’ll be processing venison, putting away hunting gear, assessing a certain 22 and ordering parts. As I understand it I need the thread pitch/size for the rear sight and the barrel date. Anything else?

Well, it seems I was right. My 75 is a nice shooter, no more. That’s what I thought I was buying so no biggie. Thanks for the insight, Big Larry. Your friend Mr. Sailor was a big help. Now all I need is some useable sights and it’s off to the range!
