I picked up another 1890 today in town today from a different gunshop 🙂 Mfg. in 1911. 22 WRF… Nickel (maybe silver?) receiver & mag tube. It has a few issues: the Lyman tang sight is wrong (it’s code F, resulting in an extra hole in the tang)… and while the barrel looks great and has a mint bore…it is a factory replacement (oval P). I have the right barrel sight for it. Anyway, it looks good on my mantle with the 1906 Experts (Nan Aspenwall’s & a younger sister) and the three digit “Solid Frame” 1890 (which has an “appointment” with Mark Douglas in Cody).

When you hot, you hot, etc.
It could just be the light in the image but, if the buttplate is likewise plated, I’ve seen that configuration catalogued as the “half nickel” Special Order Feature. I assume there could be a “half Silver” feature as well — or anything else your heart desired and your pocket could stand.

I’ve seen them “letter” as 1/2 nickel, nickel frame, nickel trim, nickel trims, or just nickel
