I have a 9422m with a serial of F45396 – any idea of the manufacture date?
Welcome!
I’ll go with F45396 as a first-year rifle of 1972 based upon the table in the 94/22 Dates Of Manufacture Sticky at RFC. It lists F48558 as the Approximate Last SN of 1972.
Opps, 3Dub is correct, I added an extra digit to the serial number in my head.

Can anyone provide background information for a 9422 M with lettering that is gold? The serial number is on the same side of the eject port (again in gold lettering). The serial number starts with F778XXX. Here is a photograph. Thanks in advance for any help!
If it is a standard Model 9422M, the odds are very high that the gold paint in the lettering is aftermarket work. If it is one of the Commemorative editions, the odds increase in favor of it being factory work. The partial serial number you mention indicates that it was manufactured just before the U.S. Repeating Arms Company shuttered the factory doors in March 2006.

I have a 9422M with a serial number of WM55 and looking for the history behind it. It apparently was one of the first ones produced and from what I have found from other forums it was one that may have been presented to workers in the manufacturing process. WM = Winchester Man? The one I have is like new condition and know where it has been for the last 15 years. Any information would be great.
Made in 1972, and Yes it is a Presentation Winchester man 9422, with the ser#suffix WM. They were presented to some company salesmen. it should be in a wood, lined case. How many were made is unknown I believe.
