The .22 Winchester Magnum Rimfire (5.6×27mmR), more commonly called .22 WMR, .22 Magnum, or simply .22 Mag, is one of three common rimfire cartridges.
Who has this cartridge in rifle(s) and pistol(s) or both and why?
What manufacturers and models would you recommend, new and old?
Let’s not forget the Model 61 pump. The two I have prefer Winchester Brand ammo and are extremely accurate and fun to shoot. Then there’s an early 94/22 Mag. Also, I have three different barrel length Ruger 3 screw Single Sixes and a New Frontier Colt 4 1/2″ that is quite loud to shoot. The Rugers all are N.I.B. so haven’t shot them. RDB

I have a very nice model 61M that was built within a few weeks of when I was born. I use it for eye candy these days. I have a Remington that was originally a .17HMR but was re-barreled to .22WMR under warranty/recall. I may or may not have an old hideout revolver made by North American Arms. My Single Six is one that got away, traded it for something but the details escape me. For a cartridge I don’t much care for it seems to be well represented in my little collection.

My 22 magnum list covers all action types except bolt action including a Winchester mod. 61, Winchester 9422, Ruger single six conv., Ruger 10-22 and kel-tec PMR-30 which I must say functions flawlessy and shoots exactly to point of aim with Hornady self defense loads which are among the slowest muzzle velocity of the 22 magnum line up. So reliable that it is my bedside defense gun usually with 25 rounds in the magazine.
