The pictures should tell you what you need to know.

Not what you mean by “short chamber.”

Probably means it shoots short shells.

I was also wondering what the question is here. It just appears to be an 1890 second model in 22 short, made late enough to have been a blued version. Nothing out of the ordinary that I can see.

Possibly, but if so why put “long” in the heading?

I’m sure he just doesn’t know guns.   Standard after the turn of the century 1890 that looks to be OK except for the finish loss.

Here are some pretty good pictures of this old .22 .
I’m hoping to learn more about it so any information would be great.

The pictures should tell you what you need to know.

If you know the value let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Your rifle was made in 1906, it’s a late 2nd model (blued) The overall condition of the rifle is good except as noted your finish is very thin and turned to a “Patina” coloration. The 22 short is the most common as far as chamberings. As far as long barrel, if you measure the barrel from the end of the muzzle to the face of the bolt, that will give you the length of the barrel. 24 inches is standard. The condition of the bore is detrimental to determining the value. The 1890 market is inflated right now, watching Gunbroker I’ve seen some real junk selling for $450-500. I’m talking rusty crap with broken wood.  I don’t want to throw an inflated price at you, rather give you something to compare. Go to Gunbroker and click on advanced search, At the top of the next page click on completed items and then do a search for the 1890 Winchester. It will show what’s sold recently along with the selling price.

Hope this helps

Erin
