Hi,
Saw a 1873 model rifle in .22 long at my lgs today had a 24″ octagon barrel the metal finish was orginal 70% intact on whole rifle the wood was not not mess with but had some small dents. Checked serial number was made in 1890 the price was $1550. OTD. How many .22 longs were made in 1890 ? what is the going price for a 1873 .22 long Is the price fair at $1550?
I place it on hold was not able to take any pics In rush (lunch break visit)
plan to go back this weekend for pics.
thanks
There is no way to tell the number of 22 longs in 1890 but I can tell you of all 22’s made 10% were longs. To come up with a value I would need pictures. You said 70% finish, is that bright blue, dull blue, thinning blue or patina. Every aspect of condition matters and the closer you get to 100% it makes a big difference.

The price is good if its as good as you say and hasn’t been messed with. Check the bore out, 22’s are known to have poor bores from black powder and lack of a cleaning rod.

Hector,
Its not what you said it was by far. Its more patina than blue with rust pits scattered in. I see some blue in protected areas. I think the price its at is about all its going to be worth. The figured wood is a plus. Do you know if it letters with the wood? What the serial number?
