Hello,

i am looking for some direction and opinion regarding some 16mm films that I have.

These are 1960/70 Winchester advertisement films made by Dura-sell Corperation and shipped to the Pittsburgh PA Winchester Division. They are on special reals that went with a portable movie projector/screen (I didn’t buy the machine, regrettably) that shows various Winchester weapons in use. Skeet shooting and such.

I have had these for about 10 years now and always meant to get them converted to DVD format but never have.

I have also been looking for something to compare them to over the years but haven’t found anything.

Does anyone know of such films?

Hi ArmyMP,

I am sure they are somewhat collectible but there is just not a huge market for them.

Francis Carter Wood Jr. (aka Bob) started producing films in the early 1930’s after graduating from Columbia college.  In 1934, he joined “The Newsreel Theatres, Inc.”, as executive Vice President. These news theaters were a great success in the pre-war days and during World War II. In 1938, the British Purchasing Mission, backed him to start Anchor Optical Corporation, in which he was the President, to produce Navy binoculars. The company grew in size and on the day after Pearl Harbor, the U.S. Navy granted Anchor an open end cost-plus contract that urged the company to increase production to 100 binoculars per day. This was accomplished in early 1944 and the company was awarded the “Army-Navy E” for Excellence of Production. At the end of the war he returned to the production of industrial and public relations films for companies such as AT&T, General Motors, U.S. Rubber, Pan America World Airways, Winchester, Sears and many others.  He was born on February 22nd, 1909 in New York City and passed away at age 99 on Friday, Feb. 6, 2009.

There are some of the Winchester advertising 16mm films that have already been converted and posted on the internet in places such as Youtube which feature Herb Parsons and others.  I am wondering if yours are the same or different?  What are the titles of the rest of your movies?

Best Regards,

If you do get them converted to DVD, I might be interested in a copy.
