Don,
No, I do not have that one in the list yet. That is a great configuration, desirable caliber, and appears to be in fairly high condition from what I can see from your photos. Between this and your trainload of Winchester tools you’ve had a darn good week.
Thanks for sharing.

Don,
FYI – Your ’94 shorty is one of 11 rifles I have logged with a 24″ barrel and chambered for 38-55. There are only three of those with the 1/2 octagon barrel. The 38-55 caliber is only making up about 9.7% of the entire pool so far. Keep in mind this is a relatively small sampling of 262 short rifles spanning from 1895 – 1941. (They are few and far between after 1918)

Thank you very much for the info Gary. This rifle is not the highest condition in my collection, but is certainly the most unusual. My photos are not that great–I would call it a conservative 70 percent condition. I usually look for higher condition, but this one was a good caliber that had some nice extra features that letter perfectly–including the exact sight configuration, which is unusual in itself. Bore is a good 9 out of 10 too. These surveys are a great service to the collecting community and I appreciate your efforts and sharing the statistics. I’ll keep an eye out at gun shows, etc. for any others I come across for your survey.
