I received a dozen of these with the ’95 short rifle. It seems I have seen pics of this type of cartridge in the past, but as usual I can’t place exactly where. Anyway, FMJ with a steel pin in the nose. I suppose the steel pin has something to do with expansion. Anybody know anything about these?

My old eyes can’t quite make out the headstamp.  Can you state what the marking are?

Yep, I figured that would be a problem as my headstamp picture sucks….  It says “W.R.A. CO. 35 W.C.F.” I came across something interesting in the new 1895 book last night when I was looking for “Extra Finish” info. On page 249 their is some mention of the Hoxie Ammunition Co. remarketing commercial ammunition by others with the addition of a steel ball in the nose to promote expansion. Unfortunately there is only a picture of the box and not the cartridge.
