I received a dozen of these with the ’95 short rifle. It seems I have seen pics of this type of cartridge in the past, but as usual I can’t place exactly where. Anyway, FMJ with a steel pin in the nose. I suppose the steel pin has something to do with expansion. Anybody know anything about these?

Yep, I figured that would be a problem as my headstamp picture sucks…. It says “W.R.A. CO. 35 W.C.F.” I came across something interesting in the new 1895 book last night when I was looking for “Extra Finish” info. On page 249 their is some mention of the Hoxie Ammunition Co. remarketing commercial ammunition by others with the addition of a steel ball in the nose to promote expansion. Unfortunately there is only a picture of the box and not the cartridge.
