Thanks guys. We’re glad to hear that you like the book. Alan, there’s a ranking of rifles in each caliber/chamber produced in the barrel chapter based on information from the warehouse ledgers and what we’ve found in our survey so far. That’s as detailed as we felt comfortable with at the moment; however, I believe we could have a future article about that and other features as the sample size after s/n 59999 in our survey increases. People and auctions outside of the US have been especially helpful in finding .303 British Model 1895s.

Wow! My book languished on the dining room table for a few weeks but I’m easing into it as time permits. As I’ve mentioned before the 1895 is not my favorite Winchester but after a little over 50 pages I’m beginning to suspect this may be my favorite Winchester book. The opening pages have helped me understand the early days of Winchester better than the other books I’ve read.
Book is well written and edited and I’ve enjoyed seeing several rifles in this book that I’ve had the pleasure of examining in person.
Well done, gentlemen, and thank you!
Mike

Just read a good and thorough review of the 1895 book by Frank Graves in the Fall 2019 edition of The Texas Gun Collector. Can’t post a link as the magazine is only available in hard copy.
