I’ve been hearing about this 36″ 1895 for a long while and the stars lined up just right to get the chance to make a deal on it. According to Rob Kassab and Brad Dunbar’s great book on 1895’s, there were only 6 1895’s with 36″ barrels in the factory record. I believe this is only the second one to surface to date.

Congrats, Mark. Looking forward to a range report. Somehow I suspect you’ll do better than that, maybe a video?

Thanks Mike. I’m in the process of casting and loading some 38-72 WCF for the 30″ half octagon that I used to slug the bore in a recent episode. I may just have to load up a few extras for an episode with that “new-to-me” 36″ rifle. Keep an eye out for that one. Mark

Looking forward to it! My furnaces can’t keep up with your Master Caster but I have some interesting moulds for that caliber. Was there a nominal bullet weight for the 38-72? May be dabbling with my 38-55’s soon, could pour a few extra to send your way.
