All,
Have been doing quite a bit of research on a fellow that was the original owner of an 1886 I recently purchased and is turning out to be a lot more enjoyable than I thought it would. Also a lot more time consuming, as you usually have to do research on secondary parties to get some insight or angle on your primary party.
Because of this, I have run across a lot of information that may or may not have some interest to someone else. An example is that I am researching a German immigrant that came to Texas in the mid 1800’s and was very active as a hunter and marksman in the San Antonio area. I found out that he lived next door to guy that had a gun store and he is touted as having sold a number of guns to a number of bandits and rascals in the late 1800s.
Was just wondering if there was an appetite out there to share historical information or techniques used to gather historical information that might be useful to other members that are trying to do similar research. Was even thinking that it might make sense to have some additional forum topics regarding historical research. Also thought it would make a lot of sense to have forum categories by rifle/shogun model; i.e. 1866, 1873, etc. It would make it a lot easier to sift thru the postings for anything of interest.
Thanks,

In my opinion networking is a vital component to modern research, just not sure how to make it work.
