Here is a rifle I first saw in Vegas. It was not for sale then. I was able to buy it in Cody. It letters but the letter does not mention the filler in the dovetail nor the fact that it has X wood. There is an X on the lower tang along with an assembly number that is also on the wood.
Since I don’t have the use of my computer the picture is not the best. The pic of the barrel does not represent the fact that it is not washed out.

Excellent buy, Chuck. The wood is very conservatively graded “X ” from what I can see.
If you ever neck down .30 WCF brass to produce .25-35 brass, MidwestCrisis would appreciate tips on that subject.

No need for me to modify brass. I have some Win 25-35 brass. Book says you can use 30 WCF or 32 Wins Spl. Never messed with this one. It appears the shoulder and neck on the 30 WCF have a larger diameter. Reduce these and it should go in to fire form.

I will bet it shoots great too. It is real eye candy! My Special Sporting T/D serial no. 113118 does! It was discussed on this forum when I first purchased it. I did replace the Lyman 103 with a Vernier tang sight. That Winchester scope should make your rifle a real “tack driver”! RDB

The only marking on the barrel that is not under the flat spring is a C. I really don’t want to remove the spring. I will pull the stock again when I can. One thing I forgot to tell you is the tang has a R or or maybe a K?

What a great example you have there. On the tang stamps, by bringing the pic in closer you can see an “X”, on the left of the mark, as a pr-strike, or shadow “X”, kinda if you will. Even left of the what looks like a broken “R”, and a partial mark is seen, as it makes me wonder if the rifle was sent back or possibly used from another S S rifle?
What a great configuration and High Wall!

Letter does not show a return to the Factory. The 7806 on the tang is also stamped into the upper channel of the stock.

The “RNS” is actually “BNS” and it indicates the nickel steel maker. The oval “VP” is extremely common, as is the sideways “3” (which indicates the high-wall frame type/barrel shank size).
