Well i finally have a model 70 in 375 H&H! Serial number dates it to 1955. All original with the original red winchester butt pad. Pristine bore.
Now the search for an original box of ammo.
Back in the day, I traded a mint M1893 shotgun for a mint pre war M70 in 375 H&H. Both gone now, but certainly remembered. Stupid trade. Big Larry

Very nice, something about a 70 in 375 H&H. Classic in every way. Congrats!

Lovely rifle, Congrats… I much prefer the low comb version over the Monte Carlo. Get that vintage ammo and you’ll literally be “loaded for bear”!!!
FWIW… The bolt/extractor of Standard Grade M70 rifles in this time frame were not routinely jeweled. Yours was either ordered that way or it was added later. Everything else looks totally factory to me…
Attached are some photos I took of a ’53 version I once owned, that (like Big Larry) I let get away. My current one is a type II-1, but I should have kept both.

Very nice, good luck on your hunt for the ammo!
Thanks Kevin! I’ve found a few different boxes. Next on the list is are two model 65’s in 25-20….One with normal wear, still a very nice gun and the other looks to be 95%. Should have the first 65 by the Reno show. Don’t worry Bert, as soon as i have them you will have all the specs for your Survey!
