Hombre

Never shot one but I bet the crescent butt on the bench will be felt in the shoulder. Nice gun to have.

The .405 Winchester rifles are great rifles. The curved butt plate can be hard on the shoulder in the bigger calibres though.

Cut the stock and put a really ugly recoil pad on it. Ok, just kidding.

Nice! I prefer the crescent buttplate like you have. I’ve shot a 405 and they certainly do speak with authority.

I have been ordering brass but I could not wait until I should get it so I took two cartridges and pulled the trigger and that was just WONDERFUL. Crescent buttplate, no problem at all.
Okey, my first choice should not be to shoot it in a bench but I shall try that also. 😯

It is a wonderful rifle to shoot with and I like the power.

Thank you guys for your inputs. I really appreciate it!

Best,
Stefan

I prefer the crescent buttplate for offhand shooting. The butt curves around my upper arm, rather than pulled in closer to the shoulder. Placing the butt on the upper arm is more comfortable for me since I don’t have to crank my head over so tightly. The upper arm also has more give to it so recoil seems less than a shotgun butt, which touches the upper arm only in the centre of the butt.
