Terrible pics, but it wouldn’t be for me. Awful shiny, too blue and the wood to metal fit at the tang is funny.

The wrist has been sanded down where it fits the rcvr.  Even if it truly was “99%”, $5000 for a plain, late ’94 blows my mind.

My exact thoughts as well… the butt stock has definitely been sanded and refinished.

I’d call it 99% refinished (poorly).

It didn’t make me happy to look at this piece.  I think, “poorly refinished” was a good descriptor.

Obviously the seller is inexperienced, or, he’s posting this ad from the puzzle factory. I wouldn’t give him $5700 for a 1929’rd barrel 30-30 even if it was legitimate & 99%.

“Inexperienced,” when he’s concocted that bogus “provenance” to account for the gun’s condition?

The photos suck!  No idea what he has for sale, other than it’s an 1894 rifle.

Once a gun has been “re-blued” it seems to me that all bets are off when it comes to bragging well preserved.

The description begs an answer to the line that “only a couple rounds” having been through it.  Does the seller mean since it was refinished?  If they meant since it was new, well shame on them for refinishing something that should only have had a minor amount of toning.

I have a 41 that is in the described condition but original finish,  I have to admit if someone chased after me with that kind of money for it,  I’d have to weaken my resolve and kiss it good bye.

“Seldom used…only a few shells…reblued…99%” and refinished wood? “ Doesn’t add up. Don’t need any more shooters, that’s all it is now.
