Thanks Erin & yes not all of them were riding side mount. The photos really don’t do it justice.

Congrats, Rick. Glad you found a nice example.

Beautiful example and very nice wood on buttstock. The NWMP ’76 is what I might call the ‘holy grail’ for me but, I have not yet found one.
I agree Kirk. It took me 3yrs to find the right one(not that there were any to choose from) but I knew this example was what I wanted & was looking for. Price is always a consideration as these don’t come cheap at $8k($10k canadian) & higher, but the scarcity & historical significance is worth every penny to me, not to mention… it’s configuration and a 76.

A few years ago I sold this one, serial 44389. It was shipped April 8, 1885. Beautiful NWMP banner and DC in a diamond with W.T.D. 4 stamped on the off side of the buttstock. Don Klancher had not seen the DC marking on a carbine this late and he wasn’t sure what the W.T.D. 4 stood for. His thought was maybe Winnipeg Territorial Division. This carbine was last listed on duty at FT. Saskatchewan on June 1, 1894. It was a great high condition carbine with perfect bore. Sold it to Jim Autry and have not seen it since.
