Thanks Bert. I discovered that after I found the booklets on sights. Unfortunately, with that discovery it seems apparent (to me- a novice) the rear sight is a replacement as it isn’t marked with distance, is a u notch and not v, and the first blade is recessed. It’s also askew upon closer examination:

You are correct, the rear sight is not original… it is a cheaply made reproduction. More than likely it originally had the No. 44A sight on it, and that is what I would look for to replace the sight on it now.Bert
Thanks Bert, that was my conclusion as well- first look for a 44A, alternatively look for a 34C. I appreciate the feedback. Regards, Ron

Reloaded some ammo yesterday so I could ring some steel on the 4th. I only loaded 10 rounds and will chrono and work out groups on paper at a later date.
Case- Hornady
Bullet- Hornady Interlock, 117 gr. Round Nose
Primer- Win. LRP
Powder- IMR 4320-22gr. and Hodgdon 4198-17.5 gr.
Very pleasant shooting rounds; 10 for 10 on steel at 80 yards, despite the cheap rear sight and dark bore.

Great looking rifle! Im still pondering one for sale locally that is identical to yours except with a ladder rear sight and nickel steel barrel. The wood on yours looks much better than the one Im looking at. Looks like factory ammo is available for about the price of 30-30 too.
